Shrimpies are the ideal aquatic pet!
They are fun to watch and require no maintenance.
We have created a perfectly balanced ecosystem designed to provide a healthy and happy environment for your Shrimpies.
Please follow our instructions precisely and you will have many years of enjoyment with your new pets
Please set up your Shrimpie Habitat within 24 hours after you receive it.
After their long journey your new pets will be eager to get out of their shipping package and into their new home.
Placement:
Make sure you place your Shrimpie habitat indoors away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Place your Shrimpie habitat where it will not be subject to drafts and away from televisions, stereo equipment, fireplace mantles, heating radiators and vents as these can overheat their water.
Pick an area in the house where the temperature will not fluctuate too much.
The optimal temperature for you Shrimpies is between 65 and 80 degrees.
Do not place your Shrimpie Habitat in direct sunlight this will cause it to overheat and excess algae to grow.
Set up instructions:
PARENTAL SUPERVISION REQUIRED
- Use only room temperature bottled, distilled, or reverse osmosis water and place both the filling water and the container your Shrimpies arrived in side by side overnight to allow both water temperatures to equalize to avoid shocking your new pets.
NEVER USE TAP WATER AS IT WILL KILL YOUR SHRIMPIES - Fill your Shrimpie habitat to the first line to insure the perfect salt level for your Shrimpies.
- Add all of the special Shrimpie salt mix
- Stir water vigorously with the wooden stick included with your kit until salt is completely dissolved and the water looks clear.
- Pour out about 1/3 of the water into a clean cup and save it
- Add all of the Shrimpie coral sand to the aquarium and smooth out using the wooden stick included with your kit
- Place decoration toward the back of your Shrimpie habitat and push the decoration down to bury the base in the sand and use the wooden stick to cover the base completely.
- Add the decorative shells and use the wooden stick to arrange them.
If they float up simply push them down with the stick to release any trapped air. - Shake the bottle and add the Shrimpie BioMix beneficial bacteria The BioMix is a very important part of the Shrimpie ecosystem so make sure to add all of it
- Introduce your Shrimpies into their new home by gently pouring their water, the Shrimpies, and the Shrimpie plants. If any Shrimpies remain in their shipping container do not try to handle them as they are fragile, simply dip the container in the water and pour them into their new home.
- Fill your Shrimpie habitat to the first line with the water you poured into the clean cup.
- Screw the lid back on and always keep the lid on your habitat to prevent evaporation After 24 hours or so the water will settle and become crystal clear
Note: you will notice your Shrimpies change from white/pink to red after they have become accustomed to their new home.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Always keep the lid on the Shrimpie habitat to keep the water from evaporating as that will raise the salinity and kill your Shrimpies
Do not add any decorations other than the ones that were included with your kit.
Do not ever stir or shake your Shrimpie habitat.
Do not add or change water.
Do not use Windex or other chemicals on or around your Shrimpie Habitat, to clean the outside of your Shrimpie habitat simply wipe with a soft cloth and water.
Your Shrimpies do not need to be fed but if you would like to feed them, use only Shrimpie Grub and ONLY FEED ONE PELLET FOR EVERY 2 SHRIMPIES NO MORE THAN ONCE A WEEK as too much food will pollute the water and kill your Shrimpies.
In order to make our habitats as safe as possible we incorporated a battery powered LED light that has limited battery life which is why we suggest using rechargeable batteries and only turning the light on when you want to watch your Shrimpies play.
To change the batteries hold the Shrimpie habitat lid and turn the LED light cover counterclockwise (left) to remove the LED cover and access the battery compartment.
WHEN REPLACING THE LED COVER TURN CLOCKWISE UNTIL IT SNAPS OTHERWISE THE COVER MAY FALL IN THE WATER.
